Happy Fiesta Tagoloanons...

"Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria". The feast day of Our Lady of Candles is every February 2 and its celebration in our place Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental (Cagayan de Oro City) is the biggest and most exuberant religious pageantry. The fiesta tradition starts with the blessing of candles, ceremonial mass, and the procession of the image, followed by the Fiesta Queen and her court. One of he highlights also of the celebration was the Palaras/Gakit Festival. It all started in 2002. Palaras (a native language) means an easier way of transporting goods and native products from the hinterlands down to the town proper using gakit (tied up bamboos floating the Tagoloan River.We also have what we call "sakay sakay" every February 3....
